1. Human Rights in Business: The Philippine Perspective

 

This is an intensive program for international students who want to have knowledge and understanding of the legal system involving human rights in the Philippines – how it is interrelated in the practice of doing business. The program includes visits to Philippine courts including the regional trial court, court of Appeals and Supreme Court. There are also visits in law firms and other law institutions.

 

The program will also have cultural and community immersion activities for participants to understand and appreciate the local context of human rights in business. It will be supplemented by visits to human rights institution, the judiciary, the corrections, combined with community engagement. Exposure to Philippine culture and heritage is incorporated for better understanding and appreciation of the Philippines and its cultural roots.

2.  “Language on Foot” (Conversational English 5)

 

This is an intensive program designed to enable participants to meet their conversational demands for survival and social needs. The program provides students with opportunities to practice the four communicative skills – speaking, listening, reading, and writing, following the functional approach. In addition to classroom communicative activities, the program also provides for “Language on Foot” activity by allowing participants to explore areas around Manila that are of cultural and historical interests.

They will also engage in conversational activities with their peers, teachers, tourists, and local folk. These cultural sites include the Fort Santiago and the National and Historical Museums in Intramuros- the Walled City of Manila.

3. Exploring the Verde Island Passage in The Philippines

 

This program is an exciting opportunity to explore the unique marine ecology of the Southern Tagalog region in the Philippines. The students will be trained in basic SCUBA diving (PADI Discover SCUBA Course) and will travel to and explore interesting destinations which include the Verde Island Passage and appreciate why the region is referred to as the Center of the Center of Marine Shorefish Biodiversity of the World.

4. Exposure program in Tropical Ecology in The Philippines

 

This is an opportunity to explore the unique ecology of the Southern Tagalog region in the Philippines. The participants will travel to and explore interesting destinations which include the Taal Island Volcano , Verde Island Passage, Mt. Makiling, among others.
The program includes cultural immersion activities with emphasis on the Southern Tagalog Region (Batangas and Quezon Provinces).
Those whose interests are in marine biology will be introduced to the Verde Island Passage and appreciate why the region is referred to as the Center of the Center of Marine Shorefish Biodiversity of the World.

Participants will also learn about the unique biodiversity of Taal Lake especially the biology of the Sardinella tawilis and the Hydrophis semperi and the conservation efforts being implemented to preserve the entire ecosystem. The Sardinella tawilis and the Hydrophis semperi are found only in Taal lake and nowhere else in the world.

Cultural Immersion Camp – Culture, Heritage, Arts

 

A two week program for international students at the undergraduate level that provides intensive lessons on heritage, culture and the arts of Manila, which is the capital of the Philippines. The second half of the program provides week-long activities like immersion and cultural visits in different heritage sites and local attractions in Manila.

Cultural Immersion Camp – Social Institutions

A two week program for international students at the undergraduate level that provides intensive lessons on Philippine social institutions like the government, NGOs and media. The second half of the program provides week-long activities like institutional visits in Malacañang Palace, Senate, Congress, NGO community sites and media establishments.
